This book is an autobiographical account of Khidhir Hamza’s journey to escape the terrifying regime of Saddam Hussein. Hamza was forced to work as a nuclear physicist in Iraq for twenty years, building Hussein’s nuclear bomb. He provides details on life under a totalitarian regime and on Iraq’s developing weapons program. According to the author, Hussein has the potential to acquire weapons of mass destruction and will use them if he does not see any other alternative. The author’s message to policy makers is to focus on those individuals working on Iraq’s weapons program, for some scientists who work for Hussein may not want to continue.
