This autobiography presents General Curtis E. LeMay, famous World War II pilot and commander of the fire-bombings of Tokyo. It is a chronological account of his life, in which LeMay describes his role in various flights and missions and in different military procedures, and his relationships with hundreds of individuals, both military and civilian. The account begins with his birth in 1906 and describes his life from his aviation start in the Air Corps, to his missions during World War II, to his position as Chief of Staff of the Air Force after the war. LeMay describes in depth his experiences fighting against both Germany and Japan. Although he flew missions against Japan, he used conventional bombing techniques and was largely uninvolved in the atomic bombings. He became commanding general of the Strategic Air Command from 1948 to 1957.
