This Academy Award nominated film provides a view of the events in 1946 at Bikini Atoll in the Marshall Islands of the Pacific, where the United States tested atomic weapons after World War II. The documentary uses rare original film footage and audio clips along with interviews to create an informative and moving film. Kilon Bauno, the chief of Bikini, and John Smitherman, a sailor stationed at Bikini, are interviewed in the film and provide unique perspectives on the events shown. In the introduction, Pulitzer Prize winning author David McCullough calls the film "disturbing and powerful.”
