TITLEIsrael and the Bomb
PUBLISHERColumbia University Press
CITYNew York, NY

This book is an extensively documented political history of Israel’s atomic bomb program. Topics discussed include the Dimona project, relations between President John F. Kennedy and Prime Minister Levi Eshkol, and the Six-Day War. The book describes Israel’s "policy of nuclear opacity," in which the existence of nuclear capacity was known to the world but not acknowledged by the government, and argues that the policy should end. The author uses declassified Israeli and American government documents, newspaper articles, other published materials, interviews, and letters to document the book. A glossary and bibliography are included.
