TITLEInnovating Verification: New Tools and New Actors to Reduce Nuclear Risks
DATE ACCESSED25 September 2014

This four-report series explores new methods for verification to encourage immediate progress on non-proliferation and nuclear security and thereby enable advances in nuclear arms reduction. It is a product of the Nuclear Threat Initiative’s Verification Pilot Project, which convened an international group of 40 technical and policy experts. The first report, with a forward by former U.S. Senator Sam Nunn, gives an overview of the project and summarizes significant findings and recommendations. The other three reports address: how baseline declarations of nuclear warheads and materials can contribute to non-proliferation efforts; the potential for societal advances in information technology, social media analytics, and commercial satellite imagery to supplement existing verification efforts and increase contributions from outside experts; and the value of expanding global participation in verification. Each section of the report is accessible from links on the project’s main page.
