PUBLISHEROxford Research Group
CITYOxford, UK

This biography explores the connections between the personal life and scientific contributions of physicist Niels Bohr. In the first section, author Finn Aaserud uses Bohr’s personal correspondence with his fiancée, Margrethe Nørlund, and other family members to examine the psychological and cultural background of his scientific contributions. In the second part, author J.L. Heilbron seeks to establish the effects of the scientific, literary, and psychological environments on the creation of Bohr’s seminal Trilogy on the Constitution of Atoms and Molecules. The work shows the influence of Bohr's fiancée on Bohr and his science. The final section of the book is a reproduction of the original Trilogy article published in 1913.
