TITLEFY 2018 Stockpile Stewardship and Management Plan: Report to Congress

This report from the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) contains the Stockpile Stewardship and Management Plan (SSMP), which is the U.S. Department of Defense's (DOD) plan for ensuring a safe, secure, and effective nuclear stockpile as well as sustaining and modernizing those weapons. A major focus of the NNSA is implementation of the SSMP's goal to reduce both the number of warhead types and the size of the stockpile. The contents of the report detail activity in diverse areas including managing the warheads, nuclear test readiness, sustaining physical and human resources needed to support the agency’s tasks, security, and future budgets and operations. An appendix presents the mission and workforce data on each of the sites involved in the program. The report complies with the agency’s commitment to achieving the goals of the 2010 Nuclear Posture Review Report.
