TITLEIran's Nuclear Odyssey: Costs and Risks
DATE ACCESSED25 October 2017

This report traces the history of the Iranian nuclear program from its origins under the Shah to the current (2013) Islamic Republic. Rather than analyze the clandestine portions of the program, the authors seek to point out the costly folly of Iran’s approach. For example, they detail the high cost and liabilities of uranium enrichment and nuclear power production and highlight safety concerns raised by the outdated technology and location of the Bushehr reactor in an earthquake zone. The final section outlines global policy concerns and suggests ways to deal with the Iranian nuclear crisis. An appendix provides a timeline for the Bushehr reactor.
