TITLEBlind Over Cuba: The Photo Gap and the Cuban Missile Crisis
PUBLISHERTexas A&M University Press
CITYCollege Station, TX

This work reveals new details about the intelligence and politics of the U.S. President John F. Kennedy administration with regard to the Cuban Missile Crisis. The authors employ recently declassified papers from the people and agencies involved with the Crisis, the papers of members of the U.S. Congress, and the President’s tapes from the Oval Office. The book describes the intense interactions between the leadership of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the Kennedy administration. As the author recounts, the administration ignored the CIA's request for more intelligence before the Crisis and attempted to cover up that intelligence failure after the Crisis. The book shows the large influence that Kennedy and his subordinates had in shaping the historical account of the Crisis.
