This book presents new perspectives on the Chernobyl disaster from a Ukrainian journalist whose town was affected by fallout from that disaster. Recently (2011) translated from Russian, the book details the Russian government’s effort to cover up the consequences of the accident and provides accounts from persons directly affected by the disaster. Created from materials amassed over a 25-year period, the book offers insights into human and environmental aspects of the disaster. In particular, the author reveals the ongoing attempts of both the Russian government and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to conceal or downplay the results of the accident.
