This Survey of Energy Resources, in its 22nd edition, provides an extensive review of the world’s major energy sources. Organized into 15 chapters according to the type of energy being discussed, the report considers fossil fuel and nuclear energy as well as hydropower, wind, solar, geothermal, and various types of ocean-generated energy sources, to name a few. For each type of energy source surveyed, the chapter summarizes its status with respect to individual countries. Of particular interest are the two sections on nuclear energy. The first deals with the consumption and future availability of uranium for reactor fuel. The second presents information on the nuclear reactors in operation and under construction, new (2010) reactor technology, the nuclear fuel cycle, and human resources required to produce nuclear power. The chapter provides extensive notes on nuclear power in individual countries, including tables that show nuclear energy capacity and fuel cycle capability by country. The Survey is an authoritative resource for governments, industry, investors, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and scholars.
