This is the website of the National Ignition Facility (NIF), a facility dedicated to achieving nuclear fusion and energy gain in the laboratory and which includes the world's largest and highest-energy laser. The site presents an overview of the various experiments and programs taking place at the NIF, describes other laser projects, and contains general information about nuclear and laser science and technology. A multi-media section of the site offers narrated videos, virtual tours of the facilities, and a photo gallery. In a format appealing to an upper-elementary and middle school audience, an education section contains lecture videos, concepts illustrated through comic animation, and activities and stories on fusion and related topics.
