In this 2004 book the author boldly warns about the disconcerting possibility of an American Hiroshima scenario at the hands of Osama bin Laden’s terrorist organization. Based on the author's experience as a former U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) consultant and written in a journalistic style, the book primarily uses news accounts and interviews to trace how bin Laden framed a plan by which al-Qaeda could obtain nuclear weapons financed through drug trafficking. Subsequently, the author examines al-Qaeda involvement with weapons of mass destruction (WMDs), focusing on the role of Pakistani nuclear scientist A.Q. Khan. Finally, the author presents what he sees as evidence that sleeper cells are forming in the U.S. that have the capability to carry out an attack supposedly more devastating than the 2001 attacks on the U.S. World Trade Center. The book includes text from writings and pronouncements of Osama bin Laden directed against America.
