This educational website explains the nuclear fuel cycle in three variations, providing an excellent introduction to the production, use, and disposal of nuclear fuel. On the main page, each of the three processes described appears in the form of a flow chart of illustrations. Each illustration links to detailed information regarding the process and components involved in that step. In the "open fuel cycle," spent fuel is disposed of as waste; in the closed cycle, labelled "current limited reprocessing/recycling" on the site, some spent fuel is reprocessed for reuse as reactor fuel; and in the the third variation described, fast neutron reactors are used to produce reactor fuel and dispose of waste.
