The Cold War International History Project's (CWIHP) website is dedicated to expanding understanding and historical perspective on the Cold War by making available primary sources from the archives of the former Soviet Union, China, and other members of the former “communist bloc.” Recognizing the obstacles that scholars and historians interested in the Cold War encounter when seeking materials from the former Soviet Union nations and allies – language, geography, or simply availability, for instance – the Project presents a wide variety of documents translated to English. The website contains a searchable virtual archive that covers topics such as the 1980-81 Polish crisis, the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, the Warsaw Pact, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the 1953 East German uprising, the Korean War, and the Rosenburg trials. The website also includes "working papers" produced by scholars from around the world using new documents from "the other side." A news section offers website updates, relevant publications, and information about CWIHP events such as lectures and book launches. The CWIHP is a part of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C.
