In this book Lawrence Badash addresses contemporary issues concerning scholars of nuclear weapons. The book gives a brief overview of the development of atomic energy during World War II, and then moves into examining the role of the scientist in contemporary society. The author discusses many of the unresolved questions of the Cold War arms race. The book covers much of what has been published elsewhere on the atomic bomb. However, as he claims in the preface, Badash provides a fresh perspective on nuclear weapons unpolluted by fears of the Soviet Union. The book includes an extensive bibliography.
