This is the website for the Nuclear Security Project, the stated purpose of which is to mobilize global action to reduce reliance on and thereby eventually eliminate nuclear weapons. The project grew out of a 2007 Wall Street Journal editorial in which former U.S. Secretaries of State George Shultz and Henry Kissinger, former Defense Secretary Bill Perry, and former Senator Sam Nunn outline the steps necessary to establish a world free of nuclear weapons and their associated dangers. The website offers access to information regarding conferences and activities sponsored by the Nuclear Security Project and contains a frequently updated list of links to pertinent news articles. A page is dedicated to the 1986 Reykjavik Summit held in Iceland between U.S. President Ronald Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, during which the two leaders worked to broker a deal that would enable nuclear disarmament. Easy to navigate and containing valuable resources, the website also offers users an opportunity to sign up to receive updates.
