The website for the Center for History of Physics (CHP), provided by the American Institute of Physics, contains photographs, articles, biographical information, and audio clips of physicists who were instrumental in the development of nuclear weapons. The mission of the CHP is “to preserve and make known the history of modern physics and allied fields including astronomy, geophysics, optics, and the like” (History page). The site displays award-winning exhibits about Marie Curie, Albert Einstein, Werner Heisenberg, Ernest Lawrence, Andrei Sakharov and others. It also contains an excellent history of the discovery of nuclear fission. The well-organized site index includes links to other history of science websites. The on-line version of Physics Today can also be accessed.
