This educational website, a portion of the website of the Chemical Heritage Foundation, presents the discoveries in physics and chemistry that led to the elucidation of atomic and nuclear structure. It includes brief summaries of the contributions of J. J. Thomson, Ernest Rutherford, Marie Curie, Irène Joliot-Curie, Frédéric Joliot, Otto Hahn, Lise Meitner, Fritz Strassmann, and Glenn Seaborg. Each summary is linked to descriptions of the work of other chemists who influenced that luminary. The site also contains photographs of the scientists. It is a component of the section of the foundation's website entitled Chemical Achievers, which presents individuals who have made significant contributions to the development of the chemical sciences.
