This book is the first of a four volume series compiling the scientific papers, addresses, general lectures, etc. of the British physicist, Ernest Rutherford, who was renowned for his work on radioactivity and radioactive substances. The volume contains all the scientific papers Rutherford authored from 1894 to April, 1907, in New Zeland, Cambridge, and Montreal. Several of the Montreal papers (McGill University) are co-authored with chemist Fredrick Soddy. The book includes papers on uranium radiation, transmission of excited radioactivity, penetrating rays from radioactive substances and many similar topics. Most of the papers are in English, but there are several in German and French. The volume also contains photographs of Rutherford and the scientific apparatus he used in his experiments. |
