The goals of this book are to advance an understanding of security threats in the 21st century, to assess security prospects, and to put forth policy proposals on national security of the United States and international security. It is a collection of 14 papers that examine a wide array of military and nonmilitary factors that affect security in the 21st century. The book has four parts: the first is about weapons, technology and security; the second is about nonmilitary aspects of security, such as resources; the third is about security and transnational actors, such as the media; and the fourth is the conclusion with policy considerations.
