This article chronicles a visit to the Chernobyl area twenty years after the nuclear disaster by the author and the photographer. They interview citizens of the region who have lived with the aftermath of that traumatic event. They also describe the physical, medical, and psychological effects that remain as well as the construction of a new containment structure for the original sarcophagus that encloses the remains of the reactor.
