This is the official website of the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Fernald Closure Project. The website contains a history of the Fernald site, a former uranium processing facility in Ohio, and information about each of the different cleanup projects at the site, the contractor, the location of the site, environmental monitoring, transportation of nuclear waste, ecological restoration, and planned uses for Fernald. Documents on the website include an online version of the closure contract and the Fernald baseline, the performance management plan, fact sheets, and the administrative record. The website also provides a virtual tour, archived photographs of the Fernald site, and information on community outreach and participation. The cleanup received formal acceptance from the DOE in January of 2007.
