PUBLISHERDell Publishing Company
CITYNew York, NY

This 1982 book addresses the nuclear radiation released in the United States and its effect on the health of persons involved with related activities, as well as that of the general population. The releases resulted from activities by the military, the nuclear weapons industry, and the nuclear power industry. Four major sections contain chapters on nuclear testing, radioactivity in the workplace, production of fissile materials, and nuclear power production. Appendices deal with radiation health effects, atomic bomb tests, and commercial power reactors in the United States. The authors are investigative reporters and public interest advocates, and present a point of view that is controversial. Pediatrician Benjamin Spock wrote the introduction.
