TITLEIntroduction to Nuclear Power
PUBLISHERHemisphere Publishing Corporation
CITYWashington, D.C.

This book provides a description of nuclear power and its associated technologies for the general public. The authors, two chemical engineers, introduce nuclear power in a factual and unemotional manner. They feel that it is clean, efficient, economical source of electricity with minimum environmental impact. Individual chapters address reactor basics, cooling systems, accidents, waste disposal, and the prospects for fusion energy. The book was in production when the Chernobyl nuclear reactor accident occurred, but does include some information on the reactor type involved and the accident. It is useful to undergraduate students, policy makers, and practicing professionals in many fields, in addition to the general reader with an interest in nuclear power.
