TITLEMilitarily Critical Technologies List (MCTL) Part II: Weapons of Mass Destruction Technologies
DATE ACCESSED17 February 2017

This comprehensive website provides the U.S. Department of Defense’s (DOD) document that assesses the technologies required to develop and deploy a weapon of mass destruction (WMD). It covers delivery systems, information systems, biological weapons, chemical weapons, nuclear weapons (including radiological weapons), and nuclear weapon effects simulation technologies. For each of those topics, the document provides the historical background, explains the science and technology required, and gives a foreign threat assessment. Although focused on nation states as potential developers, the document also addresses the threat of terrorists building one of the weapons. There are dozens of graphs and tables throughout the documents. An appendix summarizes the international treaties, agreements, regimes, and informal agreements that seek to control the spread of WMDs and missiles. The website is part of the much larger website of the Federation of American Scientists (FAS).
