This documentary film provides a close look at Russia’s missileers, or roketchiki. With famed Russian journalist Vladimir Pozner leading the way, the film crew gained access to Russia’s largest strategic missile base, a closed city outside the city of Saratov. The narrator interviews several Russian officers at the base observes how that privileged branch of the Russian military lives and works. Also, several outside experts are interviewed about the state of Russia’s missile forces. There is footage from inside the missile command center and of several different test launches, including the new TOPEL M missile. The director did a similar piece on the American missileers.
