This book is a collection of the murals done by the husband and wife team of Iri and Toshi Maruki. For decades they painted large murals portraying the horrors people suffered during and following the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. They also did works on other subjects such as Auschwitz and the Rape of Nanking. Each mural is presented in full followed by more detailed pictures of its component panels. The book includes an introduction, descriptions of the murals by the artists, and an interview with them. A companion documentary film is entitled Hellfire: A Journey From Hiroshima.
