This book reports on the state of the international black market for nuclear materials for both weapons and civilian use. Lee investigates the availability of nuclear materials in the states within the former Soviet Union. He argues that most statistics on nuclear smuggling are far too modest. Though he does not uncover any illegal trafficking, he illustrates that the channels for this covert trade have become more sophisticated and concealed. Lee’s main evidence is the lack of any clear information on the nuclear materials stockpiles. He urges all governments to be more open to policies that will eradicate the black market in nuclear materials. The book contains extensive footnotes and a current selected bibliography.
