TITLEA Guide to the Nuclear Arms Control Treaties
PUBLISHERLos Alamos Historical Society
CITYLos Alamos, NM

This book reviews the nuclear arms control treaties negotiated since the end of World War II. It provides a brief overview of the nuclear arms race and of nuclear arms control negotiations. It then examines the different agreements in depth, including the nuclear test ban treaties, the Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT), the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF), and the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaties I & II (START I & START II). The specifications of each treaty are also provided in chart form. One chapter explains treaty verification methods. The author concludes by examining the continuing discussions at the time on START III and some proposals for further nuclear weapons reductions. The book was written for the staff of the Los Alamos National Laboratory as an overview of all current nuclear arms control agreements.
