This report from the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace provides a summary and analysis of Iraq's weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) and the 2003 invasion of Iraq. The report examines unclassified prewar intelligence, the statements by the United States administration concerning Iraq's WMD capabilities, and the evidence of those weapons found as of the date of publication. The findings extracted from that information are presented as lessons learned and form the basis of recommendations for the future. Those findings are summarized in a series of tables showing a chronology of assessments of Iraq's nuclear, chemical, biological, and missile programs by the United Nations and by agencies of the United States government. Appendices contain the text of speeches by President George W. Bush and Secretary of State Colin Powell addressing Iraq's WMDs.
