This book is an anthology that concerns disarmament and India’s stated commitment to elimination of nuclear weapons. The works, which include official government statements, discuss non-proliferation, halting nuclear weapons testing, slowing the arms race, and eliminating of nuclear weapons. Published 20 years after India’s first nuclear test, 10 years prior to the second, and at the height of the Cold War, the book reflects the oficial Indian government position at the time, as well as its philosophical context. Many short works by Jawaharial Nehru, Indira Gandhi, and Rajiv Gandhi are included, as well as some by Mahatma Gandhi.
