This article presents a concise account of the discovery of radioactivity and radium and the people who contributed to these great findings: Henri Becquerel, Marie Curie, and Pierre Curie. The story begins with Röntgen’s discovery of X-rays, and continues with Becquerel’s contributions to the discovery of radioactivity. It concludes with the Curies’ discovery of radium and the experiments that resulted in the 1903 Nobel Prize.
