This book contains letters discussing personal and scientific issues by two of the most prominent physicists of the twentieth century, Albert Einstein and Max Born. In a correspondence spanning five decades, Einstein and Born discuss major scientific developments and aspects of the political and social history of the era. They write about many of their prominent colleagues, such as Niels Bohr, Werner Heisenberg, Wolfgang Pauli, and Erwin Schroedinger. Several letters in the volume are either by or addressed to Born’s wife, Hedwig. Heisenberg writes an informative introduction, and Born provides commentary throughout the body of letters.
