This is the website of the British American Security Information Council (BASIC), an independent organization that is devoted to researching transatlantic security and arms control issues as a means of creating a more stable and secure world (About page). Part of its vision is a world without nuclear weapons. The site contains news items, information on BASIC, a list of the organization's press releases and publications, many of which are freely available online, explanations of key issues, and an international calendar of events. Topics include the nuclear policies of the United States, Great Britain, and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), as well as the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). The site also includes information on national missile defense, biological weapons, European security, and the weapons trade in North America and Western Europe.
