DATE ACCESSED28 November 2016

This easily navigable part of Argonne National Laboratory’s website offers a detailed history of the laboratory. Included is a timeline of historical highlights from 1942 to the present. Users may access various articles, listed by title, about the Laboratory's history and its contributions to research, education, and industrial development. For example, Argonne is well known as the home of the first nuclear reactor, CP-1. In order to refute the popular belief that all the workers who were present when the first nuclear reactor went critical later died of cancer, the site also contains a list of the fifty individuals who attended that event, and lists the state of residence or cause of death for each of them. An archive of news releases related to happenings at the Laboratory is also provided.
