CITYNew York, NY

This biography recounts the life of major-league baseball catcher and World War II spy Moe Berg. The author details Berg’s early years and education at Princeton, the Sorbonne, and Columbia Law School. He covers Berg’s 15-year career in baseball, his numerous travels and acquisitions of foreign languages, and his life as an Office of Strategic Services (OSS) spy. In addition, the book describes his mission to gather information about any possible German atomic bomb project and, if necessary, to assassinate physicist Werner Heisenberg. It also discusses his rejection by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and his later years. The author thoroughly researched this biography on a secretive person, and adds some of his own speculation. Photographs are included.
